The Cutting Edge of reverse-engineering of the human molecular biological clock are in my hands as I step into the hyperbaric oxygen therapy the second time for 30 minutes, to be followed by NAD IV for 2 hours. As I lowered my body into the tank, I could not help but trust in the trials to eliminate diseases so that the health-span is a period of life free of illness worth extending. Seriously ecstatic to have reached this far in life, accumulating adventures, failures, and successes; my thoughts, as my head falls into comfort, are self-judgmental on pushing the universal gift beyond its limits.
Throughout life, testing my capabilities on any difficulties, the choice was to combine two adverse activities performed at the same time, a juggling act to determine a sharp mind, in order to select the correct choice, my choice.
The decision to do breathing exercises for the solid 30 minutes felt I was contributing to the therapy and not just lying there waiting to be fixed. That helped with brain clarity, as with each disciplined breathing technique, attempting optimum oxygen intake was easy. At 5-minute intervals, a gush of oxygen fills the tank and each time, a surge of clarity to solve timing of breath per minute, concluded that the frontal lobe was at peak performance. (I used the timer next to the phone) and was able to breathe six deep breaths per minute exactly for the whole duration of thirty minutes.
Simultaneously to amuse myself, I used simple mathematical calculations of how to drink alcohol without getting drunk taught by my father; weight x height divided by alcohol percentage – delivers 3 glasses of Chardonnay to be my maximum, as with Vodka shots my allowance is only a 1.5 shots and then mentally went through my drinks cabinet in time within the 30 minutes. All through calculating this, I was still delivering oxygen at a perfect pitch of 6 deep breaths per minute as well as holding down my claustrophobic tendencies at bay.
Feeling refreshed when the tank unclutched its door, the capacity my brain worked in synchronizing frontal lobe on simple calculation and autonomic breathing patterns with the amygdala holding back emotional claustrophobic fear, was revealing on how oxygen was much needed.
The next phase is the NAD intravenous for approximately 2 hours. Shall I be cheeky and share with you my earnest endeavor to consult with my own doctor with respect? The reply was “NAD has some antioxidant benefits, but the effect is not so strong, and the evidence is also weak. So they are mainly used for commercial purposes”.
What pharmaceutical products are not used for commercial purposes? I rest my case.
With hindsight a few days before, I absorbed as much as I could on NAD’s website. NAD is an addiction treatment of alcohol, nicotine, and opioids. It has a critical role that if the cell is not functioning properly, symptoms of disease will start in a variety of ways. As it gets damaged the neurons can lead to many neurodegenerative diseases. Cellular functions are restored after NAD +IV and the beginnings of improved mental clarity, emotional balance and mood, so says their website.
Finding a vein from my arm is easy beyond child’s play. Once nurse adjusted the dripping slowly, I was in conversation with in-house Doctor Savanya and Coach Teresa who kindly stayed throughout, observed my every nuance, anything out of place, they were there to correct it and be in charge. Joining in with us was the Public Relations Manager, Kasamaphan whose effortless ability of honing the situation to match the exclusive image of the organization, was not missed by me. The conversation was fun, intellectual at times, and exchanging our perspective on life as we all have come from different journeys to meet in this one exceptional place, Clinique La Prairie.
My voice changed to a stronger more determined tone, so the coach mentioned. The stress factor that accompanies my diminishing dopamine, a result of my medical condition, within an hour, I was able to feel less stressed, more in a lighter mood. Nothing much more, maybe my doctor had the correct assessment.
Within the next seven days, my journaling offered a very interesting and valuable balanced insight to afford an honest approach in evaluating these procedures genuinely. So here goes:
Wed: Receiving IV NAD mid-afternoon. Stronger voice. Appetite returning.
Thurs: Hunger, consumed more food, GI tract movements picked up speed and digestion faster than usual. A little leg cramp, increased energy. Uninterrupted sleep of 6 to 7 hours
Fri – Sat : The most normal bowel movement experienced in over four years Morning clarity provided creativity in writing. Increased energy meant early to sleep then waking up to take the forgotten medicine and straight back to sleep.
Sun – Mon: Appetite increased. Had a long day with visitors, more than the allotted maximum of four hours, I was still going strong on the 6th hour. Woke up once to take meds and fell asleep within 10 mins. Monday was a day of creativity and was able to cover many written works. A little stress appeared but had a feeling of wellness. Whatever cells its replenishing it is doing it subtlety.
Tues – Wed: Rested and felt the need for a 30 mins nap as the previous day was full on. Appetite still good. Sleep time 6 hrs.
Assessment: Overall the hyperbaric oxygen therapy second time around had improved the well-being at a considerable 80-85% increase, in my opinion, a high rate of success. Next challenge will be 60 minutes in the chamber. The NAD IV is slow to attain change, but as the week progressed, there was a distinct improvement neurologically. Memory, clarity, cognitive repair, plus logical and strategic thinking progressed by 55-60% – considerably a high score. Granted a second time, will give a more accurate assessment.
My personal thoughts: Pharmaceuticals priced at high revenue for commercial purposes, as all drugs are, cannot be judged against the healing of a life.
The amazing science and technology of the cutting edge of longevity is no less than space exploration. And I, born of mid- 20th century is allowed a glimpse through Clinique La Prairie, beyond the boundary which makes interstellar travel a dream become a reality, by extending health, free of illness in lengthening human life span.
